2019 is almost over, but that doesn’t mean your opportunities to save on solar are running out. In fact, now’s the best time to switch over to solar and save! SunPower recently announced they’re offering a $1,019 rebate on all qualifying solar energy system purchases between now and the end of 2019 through their End of Year Solar Rebate program!
With only a few weeks left in not just the year, but the 2010s as a decade, now’s the time to take control of your energy costs, maximize tax incentives, and even secure your energy future for years to come. Through SunPower’s End Year Solar Rebate program, if you purchase a qualifying SunPower Equinox® solar energy system with qualifying modules, you’ll receive a $1,019 rebate. That means a shorter payoff period, greater savings on energy costs, and an even lower overhead investment to save you more money in the long run.
However, you only have a limited amount of time to take advantage of this outstanding deal—the offer is only valid through December 31st, 2019. Don’t have time to outfit your home with solar before then? No problem—as long as your contract is signed before the deadline, you still qualify for the rebate.
Why Switch Now?
Why should you switch to solar now? We’ve already discussed some of the benefits of switching over to solar, but here are a few of the best reasons why taking advantage of this deal may be the best decision you make in terms of your energy future and your budget.
The Solar ITC is Sunsetting
This is your last chance to take advantage of the full extent of the Solar Investment Tax Credit. The solar investment tax credit is one of the single largest benefits available to those who switch to solar, but the time to use it is running short. For the last several years, those who have switched to solar have been able to claim up to 30% of the total cost of their system, including installation costs, as a credit on their tax return for the year. Starting on January 1st, 2020, anyone who installs a new system will only be able to claim up to 26%. In 2021 that number will drop to just 22% and then in 2022 it will disappear entirely, save for a 10% credit for utility and commercial-scale installations.
That means the time to take full advantage of this tremendous incentive is running short. While you don’t necessarily need to have your system installed in order to take advantage of this benefit, you do need to sign the contract before the end of 2019 in order to claim the full 30% tax credit through the Solar ITC.
Protect Yourself From Power Failures
With Smart Inverter technology and solar energy storage, a solar energy system could be your ticket to energy stability through the next wildfire season. Smart inverters can “island” your home off from the public grid in the event of a power failure, allowing you to keep your lights on and running. When you consider the growing instability in California’s power grid, the peace of mind of knowing you have a dependable alternative energy source is invaluable.
